The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) are the generally recognized ethical and performance standards for the appraisal profession in the United States. USPAP was adopted by Congress in 1989 and contains standards for all types of appraisal services, including real estate, personal property, and business valuation. USPAP compliance is required for personal property appraisals and identifies the methodology and guidelines for conducting and authoring personal property appraisal reports. To become a personal property appraiser in the United States, appraisers must take the 15-Hour National USPAP course. Additionally, personal property appraisers must take the 7-Hour National USPAP Update course once every two calendar years. .

What is a Qualified Appraisal

A qualified appraisal is a document prepared by an accredited appraiser in accordance with generally accepted appraisal standards. Generally accepted appraisal standards are defined as the substance, ethics, and principles of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), as developed by the Appraisal Standards Board of the Appraisal Foundation. Each appraisal report is a legal and unbiased document.
